We are disappointed to report that Sandy Thomas has decided to step down as Vice President of Programs at the Island Institute. Beginning in November she will take up full time work with IGERT, the organization for which she currently holds a part time management position. The Island Institute’s innovative programs department is a credit to her visionary leadership. One of Sandy’s most important contributions has been to develop the Island Fellows program into a flagship project. Under her careful mentorship, members of the program department’s multidisciplinary unit created and delivered an impressive array of meaningful projects for Institute constituents. For these and many other reasons we will miss Sandy dearly. The entire Institute community thanks her for her contributions and wishes her the best of luck in her new pursuits.
