Nathan Michaud has been appointed Programs Depart-ment Manager at the Island Institute.
Michaud grew up in Turner, Maine, and joined the Institute staff in 2001 after completing an Island Institute Fellowship on Vinalhaven in Penobscot Bay. He studied at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and had previously lived on Frenchboro and worked as a sternman. He has served as the Institute’s Community Planning Officer for the past two years.
“We can all look forward to benefiting greatly from his extraordinary skill and knowledge around working with island communities,” said Institute Chief Operating Officer Bart Morrison in announcing the appointment. “Nate’s deep experience with the Institute and commitment to its mission will serve us all very well going forward.”
The new position of Programs Development Manager partially fills a vacancy created by the recent departure of Sandra Thomas, the Institute’s former Vice President for Programs.
