The Maine Lighthouse Museum and Gateway Center planned for Rockland’s former Courier Gazette building will benefit from the generosity of artist Jamie Wyeth. Wyeth has agreed to donate proceeds from sales of a limited-edition print of his painting “Lighthouse Iris” toward the new museum, scheduled to open in 2005. The museum will house the world-class collection of lighthouse lenses and artifacts currently at the Shore Village Museum in Rockland, and document the history of lighthouses along the Maine Coast and their keepers.
Those interested in obtaining a print of the yellow-and-purple “Lighthouse Iris” may purchase one through Archipelago (207-596-0701) or through the Farnsworth Art Museum’s retail store.
