The Islesboro Historical Society’s new museum building, built in 1894, has been a town office and meeting hall,
and then a high school through 1954. In 1971 a society member requested the Town sell the building to the Society.
One dollar sealed the deal, and the land and building were transferred to IHS.
On June 19 over 200 people turned out
for refreshments and the grand opening of the new museum. Bunny Logan, left, received a plaque honoring her volunteer
work as the society’s archivist. Melissa Olson, right, is the society’s registrar.
The public is invited to Islesboro
Historical Society events, and the Historical Museum is open to the public Saturday through Wednesday 12:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. through September.
