As part of a new “Giving Back to the Community” program to raise visibility and funds and build membership for Midcoast Maine nonprofit organizations, McMahon’s Rockport Grille in Rockport will donate a portion of its gross receipts for the month of September to the Island Institute.

The restaurant is located one mile south of the intersection of Routes 1 and 90 in Rockport, and is owned by Colleen and Mathew Ingraham, who inaugurated the program in July. The “Relay for Life” race sponsored by the Red Cross was the featured organization in July; the August beneficiary was the Owl’s Head Transportation Museum.

Customers dining at McMahon’s during September will receive information on the Island Institute’s programs encouraging them to join and/or donate. Those who make a donation of $100 or more during the month of September can present their acknowledgement letter at the restaurant to receive a $10 gift card good on a future meal. During the first week of October, McMahon’s will host a reception for the Institute and will present a check representing a portion of the month’s receipts.

For more information, call the restaurant at (207) 236-4431, or Jody Herbert at the Island Institute, (207) 594-9209, ext. 113.
