On Friday, Nov. 3 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Swan’s Island School, three members of Winsor Music, one of the Northeast’s premier chamber music ensembles, will present a free, interactive children’s music program.
Students and teachers from the Frenchboro and Islesford schools will also participate, and any other interested island teachers and their students are encouraged to attend.
The following evening a 7 p.m. concert at the Swan’s Island Baptist Church will again feature oboist Peggy Pearson, the group’s founder and artistic director; soprano Kendra Colton, and harpsichordist Peter Sykes. They will perform works by J.S. Bach, Handel, Purcell and Vaughn Williams.
All coastal and island residents are welcome to attend this free event, and to join the musicians at a reception during intermission and a post-concert chat.
This is the fourth year for both programs, organized and hosted by Gael and Ty Minton, seasonal Swan’s Island residents, with additional funding for the inter-island children’s concert provided by the Island Institute’s Island Community Fund.
