The Island Institute is adding staff resources to its fellows program, hiring Cyrus Moulton as the fellows program coordinator. Moulton was formerly a fellow on Great Cranberry Island working with the Town of Cranberry Isles to write a comprehensive plan. He also taught music at the Islesford School. As coordinator, he will provide the “on the ground” support to fellows, ensuring that they are receiving necessary support from the Island Institute and their host communities; facilitating communication among fellows, host communities and the Island Institute and organizing training and development opportunities for fellows.
Chris Wolff, the previous coordinator, will focus on the recruitment of host communities and placement opportunities in her new role as Community Development Director. In addition, Wolff will concentrate on larger community development initiatives such as the Coalition for Coastal Workforce Housing. This coalition formed in September with a steering committee of representatives from MaineHousing, Genesis Community Loan Fund, Coastal Enterprises Inc., Island Housing Trust, Island Institute, Monhegan Island Sustainable Community Association and the Maine Islands Coalition and will be working to “keep Maine’s coast and islands affordable for Maine workers and their families.”
Both Wolff and Moulton will be based at Island Institute’s new office on Commercial Street in Portland.
