On June 13, Capt. Charles Creaser departed Head Harbour, Campobello Island, New Brunswick, by way of Eastport, Maine, aboard the sardine carrier Bernadine. She was bound down the Atlantic coast to the mouth of the Hudson River and up the Hudson to the Great Lakes, eventually returning to her home port. The vessel was built in 1942 on lines taken from the original Bernadine, built in 1912. Capt. Creaser has fitted her out as a floating museum to promote the life and history of Passamaquoddy Bay and the Bay of Fundy. He has been appointed a tourism emissary for the province of New Brunswick, the New Brunswick branch of the Empire Loyalists Association of Canada, the New Brunswick Historical Society, and Campobello Island.
