To the editor:
I read your interesting story about the Swan’s Island ferry and couldn’t help think about riding our Staten Island Ferry. I feel Molly Bryan would feel very much at home.
Yes, people read their books, listen to music with their earphones or just meet their friends to catch up on the latest gossip. Sometimes the ferry can’t leave the terminal because of weather and 6,000 people are late to work. It’s also a thirty minute ride.
The ride is a time where boy meets girl and girl meets boy. A time for the secretary sitting at the computer all day, the doorman working at a large New York City Hotel or the person who was in corporate meetings all day making billion dollar deals to relax.
There really isn’t much difference between Molly’s trip and theirs. Our ferry is just a little bigger!
