Drug rehab in Cutler If you’re looking for a good illustration of the swords-to-plowshares principle, consider the proposal to convert the former Cutler Naval Base into a center for rehabilitating people with serious drug addiction. New Island Institute Fellow

The Island Institute has announced the placement of a new Islesboro Fellow, Shey Veditz. Shey has a B.S. in Integrated Science and Technology from James Madison University. Wonder Dog Jenny

Islesboro Central School students were recently entertained by wonder dog “Jenny,” a seven-year-old black Lab who has been attention-trained to work as a “scent-discrimination” finder of objects and people. Jenny’s owner, professional dog trainer Frances Plessner, takes Jenny to nursing homes and schools where the exquisitely-behaved canine can show off her bag of tricks.
